Publicity Articles and Reviews
I am passionate about my writing - given half the chance I'd write all day (and I have done on that infamous occasion when I completed NaNoWriMo - that's 50,000 words - in 48 hours!) Usually, though, I have other things I need to do, places to go, people to see, so I have to fit it in when I can.
Put simply, I love words so when I got the opportunity to write a publicity piece for an actress friend of mine I jumped at the opportunity. She was delighted and word spread. Eventually I found myself writing dozens of them, along with reviews of shows.
Many of these have been published and/or used in some other form. I thought I'd share these with you. I've put them each on a separate page to make reading easier, and I'll try to add a picture of the person concerned when time allows.
Another interest of mine is interviewing celebrities. On the whole I've done this for charity but occasionally for a magazine/radio/newspaper. This is where I come into my own and whenever I do one of these I get butterflies in my stomach - from excitement rather than fear. I'm still in touch with many of the people I've interviewed which is something I'm very proud of. The nice thing is that I've had compliments from some of them, telling me they enjoyed the process of doing the interview because the questions are very different - they are designed to "get to know the person beneath the glamour". The interviews usually take place in the theatre dressing room but, on occasion, we have different locations such as a hotel, a restaurant, and even in a car (Norman Wisdom!) I cannot thank those involved enough but I thought I'd add a couple of "warts and all" interviews (you get to read all the mistakes as well) over the next few days.
If there is enough demand, I will add more and will even interview celebrities with the explicit idea to put them on the website. However, I don't want to add a load of interviews and then find nobody is interested - please contact me or leave a message on the blog and I will see what the demand is like.
Make sure you check out the articles and the couple of interviews I've included now.
