CHEERS! PUB FILMS A TVSOAP
By GORDON HUGHES
A PUB is filming its own soap opera - written, produced and acted by its regulars.
The first 30-minute episodes of the Lifeboys soap will be screened on Mondays and Wednesdays next month at the Ship-peries pub in Wavertree, Liverpool.
The landlord, Pat O'Rourke 50, said: "We were cheesed off with watching soaps that are nothing like real life. So the four of us sat down and wrote our own.
“We persuaded professional actors to take the leading roles and we have a full production and editing team.
He added defiantly, “We are convinced that it is going to challenge East-Enders and Coronation Street.”
Pub set to take on film world
By Mark Davies
A PUB joke which spawned a soap opera has taken a new turn — into the world of the movies.
Pub landlord Pat O'Rourke and regular Paul McKane hit the headlines last year when they launched their own real-life soap Lifeboys.
Now the two have written a film script — The Children of David — and are looking for a star to play the leading role.

Their favourite would be enigmatic Tom Conti, with Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman running a close second.
Pat and Paul's showbiz move has seen the formation of their own company, Tor Television, based at the Shipperies pub, Wavertree.
The first six episodes of Lifeboys were shown exclusively in the pub lounge, with interest coming from several TV companies.
The new project is based on a resistance unit in the second world war, joined by a Liverpool man.
