I thought I'd seen the best in Joe Power - as I said earlier, he blew me away. I was wrong! I came across Phoebe when listening to a favourite radio show (Pete Price, Radio City) and her friend was on. She happened to mention that she and Phoebe would be appearing locally. I decided on impulse to go and Phoebe turned up - she said she would only read for two people and I was one of them (the first one, actually). She held my hand and proceeded to tell me some of the most amazing stuff - things she couldn't possibly have known, even that my dream was to be a successful writer and I mustn't give it up. She described two people very clearly and then stunned me when she mentioned a young man - there was no denying it was him! She even talked about a cooking disaster I'd had when he was about 9! This amazing woman has done several readings for me but during the show I'm reviewing here, something very strange happened - read on to find out what it was!
Phoebe Review
My friend and I took our seats, excitedly looking around. The crowds were flocking for the evening’s show which was being filmed for ITV and the atmosphere was electric.
The tension was palpable because the big question was, out of all of those present, just who was going to receive a message from their loved ones? I heard a couple behind me joke about finding the will, and another saying they hoped a friend would come through. I was praying for at least one message as well.
Turning back to face the front my jaw dropped as I noticed the rows of beautiful candles which had been put there so people could light them in memory of those they had lost. The candles were a really clever idea because they created a pleasantly spooky atmosphere, casting strange shadows across the room. I kept thinking I could sense the spirits in the room too, but they were more likely to be the alcoholic ones!
I have always been slightly wary about events like these, for the simple reason that I felt that they should not be called “shows”. That title diminishes what they do because they deal with REAL PEOPLE who have encountered real heartbreak and attend in the hopes of finding a light at the end of the tunnel. However, I remained open minded and willing to reserve judgement until the end.
At last the lights dimmed and the evening began. I was picked out for a healing in the first part, and as I returned to my seat I was relieved to see the main event was about to take place.
Phoebe herself walked on stage, dressed resplendent in a beautiful purple top and black skirt. Her hair was gleaming and she looked like an angel as she walked slightly nervously onto the stage, the candles added to the effect because they created a golden aura around her.
She explained that she needed us to close our eyes and count to 30, which would enable Spirit to come through. We needed to raise our vibrations to match theirs and she needed to tune into us. Of course I joined in but thought she was going to count out loud - I was only up to 15 when she told us to stop so I thought I’d lost my chance! At this point, she explained that her guide, Sally, would tell her where to go in the room and who was there. The results were impressive as she told people there was a friend, a husband, etc stood next to or between them. My heart sank as I realised she had not come to me so I resigned myself to enjoying the show and not let my disappointment spoil the evening. I was very pleased for the other people in the room and I realised I shouldn’t be greedy as I have had messages from her - excellent ones - in the past.
It was very funny to witness her relationship with the lovely Sally. I have my own image of what she looks like, but they were like two young friends in the playground, telling each other a boy fancied one of them, as Sally tried to push Phoebe to areas she didn’t want to go. What I mean is, there was a clear affection between them but their personalities are very different - Phoebe is very much her own mind and I enjoyed the pair of them bickering!
My only complaint was how cold it was! My friend and I had to keep our coats on for most of the show but she explained this was a very good thing as the Spirit World were affecting the temperature by being there and were about to start running around amongst us.
Phoebe was very gentle with the people she spoke to, asking if it was OK to go ahead with the communication. She was clearly not in the business of “entertaining” her audience and every situation was handled with tremendous sensitivity. If anybody was upset, Phoebe would ask permission to continue.
Once again I was amazed by her accuracy - it seemed that almost everything she said was correct. The other thing that struck me was that, unlike other more famous mediums, Phoebe was very human and she wasn’t afraid to show her emotional side. Several times when she gave messages her voice was little more than a whisper, but that somehow emphasised the power of the message and her humanity. My friend said she was the first medium she had seen who made the show about the Spirits present in the room and their loved ones, rather than her.
I was enjoying watching the interaction with those she had messages for and was frankly stunned when she blurted out, I have a Michael here for the lady in the front row. Lucky I wasn’t drinking because I would have dropped my glass. Me? But I thought nobody had come for me! Even more surprising, although I had seen her before she had never said my cousin’s name! She asked if I could place a Motorbike with him, which I could, and asked if anybody had said they didn’t want him to have it because they thought it would be the death of him. At the time I couldn’t confirm or deny that, but apparently none of his family had wanted him to have one because they are so dangerous. She then told me I must continue with writing my book - so, with a mixture of mischievousness and delight at my message I gleefully asked “Which one?” When she said there were 4 my jaw dropped because she is right - there are 4 in the pipeline! I was interested when Michael told me I should write short stories too, because that is not an area I’ve ever explored before.
It was very sad when the evening ended. Phoebe is one of the most gifted mediums this century and she has a huge future, whether on TV or stage. She has changed my view of this type of evening forever, I am pleased to say, and I would recommend anybody to grasp the opportunity to see her with both hands. After that evening I was left in no doubt that she has a direct link to the Spirit World. She is rising star and well deserving of her success, all the more so because she simply wants to share her gifts with other people, not bask in the starlight and glory as some others I could mention.
So had my views changed about these events? Well I still don’t think they should be billed as a “show” for the reasons stated earlier, BUT I can see the benefits of seeing a medium in these circumstances which are much less formal than the way you would usually see a medium. It does give the audience a chance to see the medium in action - and perhaps even a golden opportunity to receive a very brief message at the moment it is most needed. At least you can make up your mind first before spending your hard earned cash on somebody who may not be able to deliver the goods. As far as I am concerned, I will go to Phoebe every time I feel an urgent need for a message because, in the words of Tina Turner, she is SIMPLY THE BEST - BETTER THAN ALL THE REST!
